Do visit Sagarasangamam, place where river and ocean meets.

I have heard this also happens at a place called Antharvedi, i.e. where the river joins the ocean. Are you referring to the same or both are similar but different places?

Beautiful pictures @varunc Weather looks perfect and you have visited during the right time I suppose. Will there be any spotting of animals like deers or birds like peacocks in this forest?

This weekend, I am travelling to my native "Kakinada" and returning back to Hyderabad on Saturday. Planning to drive through maredumilli and bhadrachalam and considering the following route. Please let me know if this is okay. This is just a drive through forest and there are no sightseeings planned.

Update by sairam:

Yes,

I did it 3 weeks ago.

Road condition is superb as usual  till Suryapet.
From Suryapet to khammam two lane road.
From khammam to Bhadrachalam is average and it is under construction.
Can maintain 80 kmph.

Drive through is not enough, there are lot of good places to explore.
Better to save it till monsoon.
Humidity will be very high in May, it is not worth it.

Did you visit Cooringa wild life sanctuary and Hope Island?

https://www.india-drive.com/index.php?/topic/148-hyderabad-to-konaseema/

@uday I visited Coringa forest few years back. It was a bit under developed and Boating was also not there at that time. Planning to visit again after going through ur write up :) Dont know much about Hope Island though. My dad once mentioned about this island during my child hood. He went there along with his colleagues. But never heard of this place again after that. If you have visited that place, please shed some light.

Hope island is definitely not a place this season. We will starting burning up under the hot sun and it being by the seaside, makes it more difficult and unpleasant. :(

As i noted previously, went to kkd over the weekend and while coming back took the route via maredumilli.. the route taken was

Kakinada -> Peddapuram -> jaggampeta -> rampachodavaram -> maredumilli -> bhadrachalam -> Khammam -> suryapeta -> hyderabad

Started at 6 in the mrng.. reached by 6.15 in the evng. Total distance travelled approx 585km.

Took less breaks for breakfast, lunch, two viewpoints, diesel filling, tea break

There are two extraordinary viewpoints near maredumilli and there two extreme ghat sections near maredumilli. The view points are manayam viewpoint and sokuvagu viewpoint. Here are few pics taken with my mobile. Pardon the quality please.

wonderful! how is the overall road condition now Jagan? and any bad stretches which will effect overall average speed?

The entire route from Kakinada to Suryapet is mostly two lane with two way traffic which affects the average speed. Road condition is mostly fine but there are a couple of bad stretches as well. Especially in Paloncha, there is some road extension work going on which consumed more than half an hour of our time. Apart from that the journey was uneventful.

Yesterday it was cloudy to start with and inside the forest it doesnot matter anyway as it was very dense forest for most of the journey. Moreover we did not plan for any trip or sight seeing.. It was just an exploration drive.. I was coming back to Hyderabad from my home town along with my parents and wanted to explore this less taken route to see the place is worth to stay over a weekend. It turned out to be a very good place and thr is a lot to be explored. Will plan for a stay for sure during monsoons.

Thanks a lot for the update on the road status @Jagan24. YEs, you should do this during monsoon.. Plan your drive to Lambasingi during November/December. Trust me it's a paradise. You will enjoy every bit of your drive :)

Beautiful pictures.
Place has lot of greenery even in summer.
This place is definitely on cards during monsoon.

May be we should add this place to India-Drive meetup(list) during monsoon.

If we can find a decent resort. I think four/five days are good enough to explore this place.

These roads will be fantastic during monsoon.

The road is being laid in the palvoncha town from last 1year. It is slowing us down by 30 mins to 1 hr. I faced the same in May last year and again in this May on the way from Nuzvid to Warangal via Kothagudem and Manuguru, Tadvai. By the way visited Bhadrachalam temple as there is a 1 hr extra time as the roads are very good except in Palvoncha!

We got our new car in Aug 2018, decided to go for a long drive during dasara holidays.
So we planned for a 3 day trip to Anantapur, lepakshi and madhavaraya temple gorantla.

      Day:1
      Distance : 366 KM
Travel time : 6 hours approx
Started on Sunday afternoon around 1:30 PM,
we took the NH44 towards jadcherla, karnool. Reached around 7:30 to Anantapur with tea break and dinner break nearby Anantapur (Hotel Mayura) .

We stayed at Hotel Serena as we saw some good reviews about the place, and its close proximity to NH.
Hotel was good as we expected.

      Day: 2
      Distance: 255 KM
We began our journey to Lepakshi temple around 8 am after had a delicious breakfast filled with yummy idlis and hot wadas at Ramaiah Idly Centre,
which seems to be famous food joint known especially for Idlis in Anantapur. Reached Veerabhadra Temple, Lepakshi around 10 PM.

Temple is maintained so clean and neatly, found parking place near by the entrance.
Around 2 hours we spent in the temple admiring the marvellous sculptures of Vijayanagara architecture.
Being the holidays season temple had good amount of visitors, though we had a pleasant darshan.

Temple has a small garden and washroom facilities. This is a must visit temple if you like visiting historical places filled with beautiful sculptures and grand architecture. Few pictures take using my mobile. hope you like them.

      Dear All,

Apologies for the late reply. I finally completed the trip and it was a great experience.
I visited the below locations in span of 6 days and drove 2400 kms.
Nallamala Jungle camp Horsley hills Chennakesava temple Sompalam Kadiri Narsimha swamy temple Talakona waterfalls Tirupathi Srikalahasti
      Day-1
      Hyderabad to Nallamala Jungle Camp
My planned route is Banglore highway i.e
Hyderabad ---> Jadcharla--->Kurnool-->Nandyal--->Nallamala Jungle Camp Pacherla

Excellent road conditions. I started my journey at 6:30 am from Hydearabad and reachd Nallama Jungle camp by 10:45 am , with a break in Kurnool for breakfast.
For 4000 Rs  ( you will get cottage, breakfast,Lunch & Dinner at Nallamala Pacherla) , beware of Monkeys. Safari tour was adventurous but hardly we spot any wild life.

      Day -2&3
Nallamall Jungle camp to Horsley Hills
Planned route Nallamala Jungle Camp --->Rayachoti---> Horsley Hills (1-day break)

Roads are very good until Rayachoti. From there to Horsley hills it was pathetic , they are laying new roads and the present condition was worst. Please avoid this road by all means.

Horsley hills is a pretty good place to chill down and relax. The weather is pleasant always.
Here we had spend two days exploring Horsley hills and neary by places.
Chennakesava Temple at Sompalayam is a ancient forgotten temple with unbelievable architecture one should go and watch.
We also visite Kadiri Narsimha swamy temple on the way.

      Day 4
Halt at Tirupati (enroute Talakona Waterfalls)
Planned route Horsley Hills--> Talakona waterfalls --> Tirupati

Roads are pretty good with speed bumps at some places .

      Day 5
      Tirupati darshan

      Return Journey

      Day 6
      Tirupati NAM expressway  Tirupati--->Srikalahasti-->Nellore-->Kavali-->Ongole-->Nalgonda-->Hyderabad.

While coming we took Nellore Kavali NAM express towards  Hyderabad. The road condition is Ok with so many toll gates  and some huge repairs in between. Somehow I feel and suggest to take Kurnool route to Tirupathi which is really good.

Attaching few photos from my tour , please have a look.

I regularly commute on Hyderabad to Vijawayada highway, almost once in a month from the past 10 years.

Hyderabad to Vijayawada distance :275 kilometers

      Year :2006

It is a single lane road, not enough to fit 3 vehicles at a time. It used take me 7 hours to travel from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. Blind curves. Highest accident ever occurred in the country. One of the busiest, mostly filled with trucks. Worst road condition, filled with unlimited potholes. Driving at night is a suicide.(zero visibility with those high beams) Some overtakes used to take me at least 15 minutes, Imagine 10 trucks trailing each other with no space between them, on a single lane! No proper hotels and washroom Worst fuel quality But I used to enjoy the drive, it is challenging and fun.

      Year :2017(after a decade)

Now it has a 4-lane road, truck lay by lanes, emergency lanes and bridges across villages. It is taking me 4 hours from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. I am saving 3 hours.  Many good hotels available, no issues with washrooms. Toll road, with road assistance and standby ambulance for safety. Continues patrol across the highway, last year a huge industrial truck was stuck on highway while taking u-turn. Patrol guys arrived within 15 minutes and took the situation under control.

      Hotels between Hyderabad to Vijayawada

      1. Village Aharam :  Malkapur
First decent hotel on the highway

      2. Highway 9 Restaurant : Nalgonda
           Good for break fast

      3. Hotel Vivera : Nalgonda
Recomended, If you are planning to diver towards Nalgonda.

      4. Maa palle ruchulu : before suryapet
Village style hotel, don't expect luxury.

      5. Hotel 7 : suryapet
Best in quality, very good washrooms. Recommended for families.

      6. Numerous hotel in Suryapet.
You get all types verities over here.

      7. G-hotel : Suryapet

8.Once you cross Suryapet, you won't find any proper hotels, though you can find many road side dhabas.
Please correct If i miss anything.

      Fuel stations
You can find then in every 20 kilometers radius.

      Tolls
It is a complete toll road, elevated 4-lane, on an average you pay around 1 rupee per kilometre, so it should be under 250/-
