Pune to Hyderabad best route

Recommended Posts

Hi all, i am planning to drive from Pune to Hyderabad. I am aware the road from Pune to Solapur is excellent.

How is road from Solapur to Hyderabad? Is it a 4 lane highway with road separators?

Any help highly appreciated!

There are two routes from Hyderabad to Solapur. First one in via Kalaburgi Vikarabad while the second one is via Zaheerabad. Kalaburgi route has got good quality two lane road but lot of villages and speed breaker. Around 60 kilometres road in Maharashtra is very irritating.
In the second route via Zaheerabad, roughly 100 km road in Maharashtra is pathetic. They are building four lane road and hence lotbof diversion is there. Once you enter Karnataka the road till Hyderabad is awesome. However be careful when you are speeding as the road is newly laid and the local people haven't adjusted to it and can often come in wrong direction.
Tip: In both the roads try to complete the Maharashtra stretch before sunset. In dark the diversion in Zaheerabad route will be problem while in Kalaburgi route you will find truck drivers driving with high beam on two lane road.

Perfect review saurab, Nailed it.
I have done this route multiple times, will agree with each and every point you have mentioned.

Please don't take Zaheerabad route during night, diversions are very dangerous and irritating.

If you want to drive peacefully take Kalaburgai route.
Take a look at the link provided by sagar.

I just completed this trip from 8/25- 8/27 and Rangers comments are spot on. I'd like to add a few comments.

1) Road from Pune to Solapur is EXCELLENT but occasionally beware of people coming from opposite side. Its 4 lane  toll road and smooth as silk.

2) From Solapur I took the Zaheerabad road. For about 100km from Solapur the road is really BAD. It will either break your car or prove fatal. Be very careful.

3) Road from Karnataka border all the way to Hyderabad is EXCELLENT. 4 lane toll road but people come from other side AND there are 3-4 diversions, very badly marked and can be fatal, be careful.

Hope this helps someone.

Thank you for the update, Ashwin.

How is the traffic between Solapur --> Zaheerabad --> Hyderabad
Can you tell, how much percent of road is completed from Solapur to Hyderabad.

Hey Guys, thanks for all the updates here. Very useful so far!

I just got a new ride and it has been a while since I have done a road trip to Hyderabad from Pune. I know it for a fact that Solapur until Hyderabad was a pain in the past. Considering all the comments above, seems like Solapur until the Karnataka border has bad roads.

My car has not got great Ground Clearance, is it recommended to take a sedan on that stretch and not cause damages considering the fact that I will be well within sustainable speeds for bad roads, but my concern is -  How bad are the potholes?

I would really appreciate someone throwing some light on the above!

Thanks

Ganesh

@Punisher Hey Ganesh, I would recommend you to take the route Via Kalaburagi to Sholapur and then connect to Pune which is a better option considering the road conditions and the number of diversions in the Zaheerabad stretch.

Do check out the link below for the latest pictures of the road conditions in the zaheerabad stretch.

      Hi.
I am planning to drive from Mumbai to Srisailam with family. I would be the only driver and so will need night breaks in between. I am confused about the route to take post Solapur. Google map shows 2 routes one via Gulbarga and other via Zaheerabad. Which one is better and a 4 track road with dividers? One friend suggested instead it drive till hubali then to Bellary and then reach Srisailam as the road is good and the total distance might increase only by 150 kms. Please guide. Thanks

      Hello fellow enthusiasts,

Recently I was on a road trip to Goa and enjoyed a lot. The hunger of being on road never ends, so with some long discussion with my better half and parents, we came on a decision to take a Road Trip to Bhutan. The plan is set, dates are fixed and I have started working on the itineraries. The chosen month is April, as very less time is left, I am turning to you guys to suggest me the required preparations for the trip. We would be four travellers, the vehicle would be Hyundai Xcent SX 2016 model with less than 10K on it. As it is my parent's car and is mostly driven by the driver, I'd be getting everything serviced. The trip would start from Jabalpur (M.P) to Thimphu (Bhutan) to Jabalpur (M.P). An approximate total of 3500Km, plus 300km miscellaneous. I have some questions and would really appreciate if get the answers from the experienced people of this forum.

      1. Best route?
      2. How many halts?
      3. How many days in Bhutan (West)?
      4. Luggage Carrier, would it be an issue for a sedan?
      5. Luggage Career Vs Roof Box, which is better?
      6. IceBox, is it required?

That's it for now, sure would have many more questions later.

      ~Sam
