Guest Update on Pune-Hyd Route

Just back from weekend drive from Pune to Hyderabad.

Onward Journey Pune to Hyderabad -

Started from Pune on Friday night at 11:30pm and reached Hyderabad by 9:00am morning.

Route taken was Pune-Solapur-Akkalkot-Aland-Humnabad-Hyderabad.

 Route from Solapur-Akkalkot-Aland-Humanabad is good.

It is 2 lane highway and had very less traffic.

However i would suggest not to take this route during night time. The first 60 to 70 kilometers there were some remote villages.

The last 50kms of this route was jungle and I didn't encounter any other vehicle (in either direction) on this complete way.

If you want to avoid bad patch on Solapur - Humanabad highway, then better go till Kalburgai and from there to Humanabad.

Return Journey  Hyderabad to Pune-

Started from Hyderabad at 9pm and reach home by 7am.

Due to safety concerns, kept on NH on the complete route.

From Humnabad to Solapur, bad patches are manageable.

However suggest to strictly avoid night drive on this stretch.

There were 2 instances where in oncoming lanes were blocked by overtaking vehicles.

I had to come to complete stop and put in a prayer.

Private buses are very fast on this route and there headlights literally blind you.

Given a chance, I would not prefer to do this at night time.

Thank you for the latest update.
Will agree with your points, it is better to avoid this Solapur to Hyderabad during night.

Once the road is completed, it will be a different story.

Thanks a lot for sharing a recent update and your cautious reminder about the night drive in this stretch. As you have mentioned, This is definitely life risking and Kalaburagi route is much better during this instance.

As per my experience stop driving between 10 PM to 4AM on any day. Perfect time to drive is - in day light or in the mornings!

Its good for safety and as well as you can njoy the drive. You really get a feel of drive during mornings and evenings by watching the places you pass by.

Trucks and busses are super fast during night time to meet their targets. Lets give this time for them and we can take over the roads during rest of the day!

I feel we all should spread this word due to the above reasons!

Latest update:

Most of the road construction is finished.
Stick to the following route:

Hyderabad --> Zaheerabad -->Humnabad --> Solpaur --> Pune

Avoid Kalaburgai route(Gulbarga).

Only 50 odd kilometres is pending. Unless you are driving a super car. It wont be problem for the most of the regular cars.
There are few diversions that are pending but nothing to worry about.

Thanks a lot for the latest update @varunc. Hoping that the rest of the pending track would get finished before monsoon starts. Would be a lot handy for our monsoon drive :)

Thanks for the update.

In the past I have always taken the Hyderabad --> Zaheerabad -->Humnabad --> Kalburgi --> Solpaur --> Pune route.

But now thinking of Hyderabad --> Zaheerabad -->Humnabad --> Omerga --> Solpaur --> Pune, all the way NH 65.

I will be driving down (XUV 500) to Pune from Hyderabad on 30 June.  Hopefully the 50 odd km have not worsened because of the rains.  Anybody traveled recently?

Thanks.

One of my friends recently did Hyderabad to Pune in 7 hours.
He drove non-stop with two 5 minutes bio breaks.
The road via Zaheerabad has improved a lot.

Except for 60 kilometers, most of the road work is completed.
Stick to Zaheerabad highway and avoid Kalaburgai route.

Hi Guys,

As promised here is the latest update on Hyderabad to Pune route.  I did the Hyderabad --> Pune --> Hyderabad round trip during 29 June thru 3 July 2018.

I took Hyderabad --> Zaheerabad --> Humnabad --> Omerga --> Solapur --> Pune route.

As all of us know, till Humnabad the road is absolutely fine.

Humnabad to Omerga is okay too but the trouble starts after Omerga and it lasts till Solapur.

This 85km stretch between Omerga and Solapur is filled with potholes and diversions.  Some of the diversions are quite dangerous too, being narrow.  The monsoon may make it worse.

It is driveable, but I feel, one should tackle it during the day time.

Solapur to Pune, no problem at all.

Hope this helps.
