Got a chance to use FASTag on Hyderabad ORR.

Overall process is very good.

FASTag reading time is much better compared to highways.

Best part? They are able to identify to and fro trips without any issues.

A dedicated lane for FASTag at the entry/exit lanes will save more time.

As of the now, lane system is hybrid.
They are allowing FASTag/regular vehicles in the same lane.

I have observed this exclusive lanes for FASTags at all exits. Having had 1 out of 2 exit for FASTags is allowing people to violate rules and use both the lanes in common. This is a disadvantage which can be overcome by putting up a penalty for taking the FASTag lane. May be people would be cautious from the next time before violation and also encourage everyone to get a FASTag. Can be a 'Hit or a Mis'

Currently they are following hybrid model.

All vehicles are allowed in all the lanes.

I feel there is no point in having a Fastag without a dedicated lane.

Moving ahead with the Hybrid Fastag model doesn't solve the major purpose of saving time at tolls. I wish they come up with an alternative solution.

i believe those lanes can be used by fasttag users and non-fasttag users..

i have faced issues twice while using fasttags on ORR.

i was supposed to be charged 30 both the times but was charged 100 and then 140 2nd time.

the ticket is still open with paytm and awaiting resolution forever..

This is something really strange. And will PayTm be the source to resolve this or any issue related to Fastags?

Bad luck.
I highly doubt they will take any action.

Lot of members are facing issues with FasTag.

Overall process is not upto mark.

Fast-tag lanes are not dedicated ones. I was expecting the dedicated lanes. I don't see any advantage without dedicated lanes.

Hybrid lanes are of no use. :(

Actually, The government is trying to inculcate the culture of Fastag into everyone's usage now. I have noticed the boards having warning signals at the main entry and exit toll gates which read "Non-Fastag users getting into Fastag lanes will be fined by rupees 500." So I think the concept of 'Hybrid Fastag' is going to fade away pretty soon.

Good to know about it. They should have done this from Day1. They should start warning people. There is no advantage in using Fast-tag without dedicated lane.

Fast-tag lane should be unmanned, Let the ignorant people get stuck in the lane. (provide a space to move into different lane).
Also fast-tag lane should begin 100 meters before the regular toll.

I heard that Fast Tag will be a mandatory thing just like Insurance, Road Tax etc from the dealer when someone is buying a car from May 2019 (Basically from the beginning of BS 6 norms).

That would be great when it comes directly from the dealer itself :)

True but, the Fastag censors are also not so quick enough in detection. This scenario is different in the other countries where the vehicles don't tend to stop behind the bar gates but continue to move.

Agree on it, it takes around ~5 seconds to detect.

Still it is much faster than conventional method.

That is a good move.

I think lot of showroom guys are providing tags, while buying a new car.
ICICI and PayTM has tie-ups with few service centres.

No toll at Hyderabad ORR if 20 vehicles are waiting in any lane from April 1.

Challenge remains to calculate the number of cars. Also, what will happen to the FASTag owners? Because people without FASTag get into the FASTag lane as well.

Though it is a very good move to avoid traffic congestion at tolls, but looks very difficult as the collection system of FASTag as well as manual process to be monitored very very closely and to control passengers who will claim about his numbers in the lane to avoid payment.

Calculating no. of cars is an uphill task.
Some thing like a yellow line will help.

What about the 21st car? How will they identify it.

This rule looks complicated!

As of now FASTag on ORR is hybrid.

Unless the operator press the button, you won't be charged. The gates won't open automatically.

This similar rule already exists but was never followed. Every time during the Sankranthi season I curse the officials for not following the existing rule.

Both direct Fastag and also the Hybrid Fastag lanes exist as per my observation this week :D

Well now things are all sorted out I guess ..
If I don’t take receipt and just drive through entry then there is correct amount being deducted .
If I take a reciept and then use Paytm during exit amount is incorrect ..

      Hello all,
This is my first post in the forum.
As my status suggest, i'm newbie here☺️
      My profile;
Total experience behind wheels: less than 1 year
Total kms traveled: below 8k (with only 1 long drive ~1600kms i.e; Hyd-Pune-Mumbai-Aurangabad-Nanded-Hyd in Sep 2017)
Car owned: Baleno petrol manual transmission.
Travellers: Me, better half, 2 kids (10Y, and 5Y)

Before posting as a new topic, i browsed all the topics for the topic to start.
My intention is to take expert tips from all expert guys like you.

Kindly bear with me if you find these queries childish, as i can't change stepney by myself!

      1. During ascending on ghat road (which i observed on Lonavala ghat road), i drive in 2nd gear. At the hair pin curve, applied full accelarotor, as i felt my vehicle may not move further. Scary experience. Is it normal?
Somebody suggest me to use 1st gear for those ascending hair pin curve...

      2. I have read lot of experience of driving in Wayanad. With my above experience can I hit the road? Planning this October holidays after getting 3rd service done.
My wife drive well if the roads are well mainatained like NH44.

      3. Does Nitrogen gas really helps for better maintenance of the tyres?

I will continue post my queries here in this forum, if i get some response as I believe in learning is continuous process until you die!
Note: I start exploring the forum very recently. Had i read all the post before my unplanned tour to Mumbai, i would never taken the route of NH65 especially from Omerga to Sholapur😩.

Thank you for your time and valuable inputs.
