'Year end day drive' - Hyderabad to Nagarjunasagar drive meet - Report

After a wonderful start of drive meetups this year, we're here again to celebrate our drive of the year 2016 together.

When: December 10th 2016

Where: Nagarjunasagar

Distance: ~180 kms

Start point : Gachibowli ORR

End point : Nagarjunakonda Island

Hyderabad to Nagarjunasagar Route
Hyderabad --> Yacharam --> Mallepalli --> Nagarjuna sagar dam --> Nagarjunasagar

In layman terms it is straight road(Hyderabadi: Highway pakkad ke seedha jaavo :D). Once you hit the highway no diversions required.

Our last meet-up of the year 2016 was planned a just 2 weeks ahead of our meet up and our excitement towards meeting all the new India-Drive men started to prevail. Well, it had finally happened on a Saturday i.e. 10th December-2016 which turned out to be more fun than what we have anticipated.

All the 7 cars who attended the meet have lined up for a short introductory session:)

We set our own pace towards the destination by not missing out on 'India-Drive's' convoy

That's how you space up with the car ahead of yours :D

Those long curves are fun to drive. But overall road condition is average.

We reached our first stop at the destination besides the Nagarjunasagar dam which seemed quite dry with no water around

We got involved with our principle photo-shoot at the pit-stop

Group picture.

We paced up towards our next stop before we headed for lunch i.e, Boating point towards the Nagarjunakonda Island

The roads throughout this place seemed quite good for a smooth drive

All the 7 cars besides the dam

Covering the entire convoy in frame is a tough job. Time to get a wide angle lens.

On our way to the boating point, we stopped by for a short breather to get some clicks

The boating start point towards Nagarjunakonda Island

We had reached the Island which was on the other side of the dam when the shone bright on our heads

All set for a ride back towards our start point

And yes the water was in abundancexD

We were all set for a drive back to Hyderabad

Waiting for the rest of the members to regroup.

We had stopped by for a late lunch at the Siddartha hotel

That's all folks.. See you again :) and looking forward for more this 2017 :D

It's been a pleasure meeting you guys. Return drive was super fun. Car discussions, boring boat ride, high speed convoy, food hunt, chicken Biryani @5pm, special nimbu soda with seeds, tea breaks, photo shoots, night drive, vinit's gyan on new hidden feature in fiesta, saran car gyan session, kumsi selfie video, harshita joining the drive even though she visited the place recently and jagadesh keeping up with us despite being a new driver.

We missed the panchagani team. Hope to see you all in 2017.

Thank you guys for contributing and making the drive a success.

      Current status:

      Hyderabad to Tuni : Good
Tuni to Chilka : under construction
      Chilka to Kolkata : Good
      Information shared by @ARAY
      ***NH 16 - Route update***
Folks planning for a road trip via NH16 to WB next weekend for Durga Puja, please be aware of the latest road conditions. Post Tuni till South Chilka is getting a major road expansion for last 8+ months as we all know.
Diversions and all are manageable, however with the recent torrential downpour in the region the soft soil has washed off exposing the cemented Culverts and small bridges that are constructed at the first phase of any NH build or expansion.
Due to the absence of proper markings and boards this is more risky. Absence of soft soil or temporary soil in general will further make the cemented bridges even more harder to climb and slush and soft mud can make the situation tricky.
People driving low slung sedans and hatchbacks please be careful, there is a high probability of underbelly hits while making the ascend to and decent from the bridges. People with FWD SUV be careful of lateral torque steer in the slush making the car go sideways and out of control.
A close friend of mine while driving to Assam has severely damaged the front left lower arm, track rod for steering and partially the ball joints of Honda city. He took that ascent at roughly 32kmph as per his GPX data.
Use caution drive slow post Tuni and have a very safe trip everyone !

I did not travelled for three months and the traveller in side me is thirsty.
Few plans to West Maharastra and Goa with friends did not materialised.
I had also planned a trip to Chitrakote falls with family friends but they were afraid of travelling in Chattisgarh.
It was late night of 27th July, 2018 Friday and I was desperate to go to some place.
I asked my wife and son Shall we go to Chitrakote Waterfalls? They said yes.
Rough route plan was with me. No bookings for night stay made.
Got up early on 28-07-2018 Saturday and started from Home by 5.30 AM and reached Warangal by 7.30 AM.
I know the route up to Eturunagaram before Bhogatha and I know very well that once we cross Warangal,
it is difficult to get any food. So we had Breakfast at Hotel Ashoka, Hanmakonda, once my favorite. Entered in to Mulugu road (from here entire roads are 2 lane) by 8.30 AM.
Our original thought was to come back in the same route from Chitrakote but it proved wrong.
Initially we thought of seeing Bhogatha falls in return journey so as to reach Chitrakote early.
By 10.30 we were at Bhogatha Falls cross road and its only 1 Km from there. We thought lets have a look without wasting much time.
It proved to be good decision.
