    Hyderabad to Coimbatore

This Dussehra holidays we planned a long road trip to Coimbatore in our EcoSport. Thanks to India-Drive members, especially @sagar @Ranger for suggesting trip route and staying food options along the route. Day -1: We started around 4 AM from Miyapur, Hyderabad. Drive till Anantapur is quite familiar to me, as i have driven this route many times. Drive was excellent with good pleasant weather, around 9:30 AM We reached Anantapur for breakfast at Club RuRu. Food was good as well as the service and atmosphere. After some nice breakfast we started towards Bangalore, as we approach the outskirts of the city traffic made us slow down, and also the fear of over-speeding and getting fined made me cautious, kept at 60-80 speeds reached Devanahalli around 12:30 PM. Our EcoSport flyaudio gave us this route which bypassed the traffic areas of the city (silkboard, electronic city) and took us to the sarjapura main road and joined on the NH just after the electronic city. The route we took to bypass the city is quite scenic and some places were narrow roads. and in some parts very rough roads (2-4 KM) with construction work is ongoing. I am attaching the route map for reference. Around 2:30 we reached Hosur outskirts, despite being a Sunday afternoon the road is filled with heavy vehicles occupying all the lanes and made us slow down, managed to reach a good restaurant which serves good tamil meals by 3:00 PM. The food was good and hot. after staying so long out of Tamilnadu we always look forward to eating in Tamilnadu hotels, glad we could make it for lunch. After lunch started the journey towards Salem, Roads were quite good and smooth but not as wide as Hyderabad-bangalore highway. Not a pleasant experience as the vehicles seems to be in hurry and not giving space occupying all lanes, had to be very patient to outmatch the city buses. Kept a average speed of 60-80 KM reached Salem, thought have a break at Salem, but due to some politicians visit (i am guessing its CM visiting his native Town) the roads were filled with cops asking us not to stop and keep left. At some places the cops were confusing us with their directions, over all a confused environment, but good thing is they reroute the heavy vehicles like lorries and trucks to some other route, so we had a clear road ahead of us. The only catch is we couldn't stop for the tea break. And it started drizzling once we past Salem, it's almost 7 PM, and those rerouted trucks joined us back while we are nearing Coimbatore making our last leg of journey more interesting At Komarapalayam we stopped for some hot Badam Milk and much needed break. After that it was nice to drive to the coimbatore city with with lit wide roads, reached around 9:15 PM to Sungam cross roads, Coimbatore. After parked the vehicle and went inside the house all of us were feeling that still we are moving. From morning 4 to night 9 this makes my longest distance driven in a day. (960 KM says speedometer) We visited the famous GeDee Car museum, Coimbatore. the beauty of the museum is we can see so many vintage cars at one place which are maintained so good. Checkout few pics:

    Hyderabad to Coimbatore

Started at 4 am at miyapur we reached anantapur clubruru for breakfast at 9:30. food was good aswell the service. started there from 10 am and reached the banglore outskirts by afternoon, till now roads are excellent, abke to maintan 80-100 kmph, We took the left route from devanahalli through sarjapura road and reached hosur for lunch around 3:00 pm. this stretch of road is narrow and filled with traffic at few junctions, but quite scenic. im attaching the map image for reference. from hosur roads were quite good but the traffic was hectic, heavy vehicles occupying all the lanes, not giving way...all this continued all the way till coimbatore. salem to coimbatore is excellent, reached home by 9 for dinner after a refreshing badam milk at the bakery/teashop in outskirts of coimbatore. overall a fun drive. Now my longest distance covered on a single day drive is 960 km. (earlier it was 550 Km - hyd to aurangabad) cheers!

    Hyderabad to Singur dam roadtrip

The problem we faced here in the evening, is a common problem we usually face in such peaceful locations. drunkards or people who visit such scenic locations only to drink and eat non-veg stuff and throw bottles and junk. we saw this nonsense at orvakal and in the jungle camp at pacherla also. i seriously wonder why they need to come to such locations when their idea of having fun is only to drink and eat. 🙈 Even some google reviews mentioned about this issue, sadly i didn't notice it earlier. Visiting this place in morning is advisable. i have not seen a single signboard on the road mentioning the site or singur village. In a way it's good it stays less polluted.

    Hyderabad to Singur dam roadtrip

Thanks for the precise info. Visited the site this sunday, Initial plan is to start early morning as suggested but couldn't start by 7. so we started around 2 PM after lunch hoping to see sunset at the dam site. lot of evening traffic on the NH 65, once we turn from NH65 to Atmakur side, The roads were getting narrow and road condition is not good, thus making the drive longer. We were able to reach the bridge by 4 PM, the views were spectacular and peaceful. Spent some time at the bridge and went ahead to the dam site. Wow! indeed it's a fantastic place where could see miles and miles of distance. But the place was slightly crowded being a sunday evening, maybe. nevertheless it was fun. we spent some quiet moments walking on the bridge, feeding peanuts to monkeys. after reaching the other end took few more pics and finished the sightseeing, and headed back to parking. while returning we went to haritha resorts for some refreshing tea. Didn't go to see the circular well, as this side of the dam look very isolated and no families around. We started the return journey by 5:30PM. little early than we thought, as driving in the narrow roads will be a trouble considering it was getting dark. Managed to reach the NH65 by sunset. Glorious sun was setting back in the rear view mirror as we drive back to city. Reached miyapur by 7:30. An evening well spent. Thank you!
  13. amazing pics and the trip looks like quite an adventurous one. thanks for the details and writ-up. quite inspiring!

Hyderabad to Chaya Someshwara Temple - day trip

    Adding few more pics. Thanks!
  15. Distance : 150 Kilometres to temple site. Approx Route we took : Gachibowli via Nehru Outer Ring Rd and NH65 Road condition : Excellent Restaurants : You can find many on the highway like Vivera, N grill. we had lunch at Hotel Durga near Narketpally. Food is excellent and good service. Recently went a day trip to (12-Aug-2019) Chaya Someshwara Swamy Temple at Panagal, is an Ancient Hindu Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Nalgonda District of Telangana. we started around 8 am and reached the temple by 11. The Deity in the temple is famous as "Chaya Someshwara Swamy" due to the Vertical Chaya (shadow) present in daylight, on the Shiva Lingam forming a permanent shadow of a pillar. This shadow is constant and visible from sunrise to sunset everyday. The construction of this temple is marvellous which features such exceptional sight. The whole atmosphere is very peaceful and serene. The temple premises is cool and so much reminded us the Ramappa temple. Around 1 pm we started back to Hyderabad, roads are excellent, reached Home by 4 pm. Over all its a relaxing drive and pleasant darshan. Sharing some pics.
