Returned from Himachal Trip. (Supposed to be Spiti Trip) Let me complete the Hampi trip log so that I can go to next log. Day Four 08-01-2019. We were all ready by 6.30 AM and reached Badami caves in less than 10 Minutes. Uncle and Aunt remained in the hotel. We were the first visitors at the place. Security person asked us to wait for some time till sunlight comes over the caves. But we said we will go up to 3rd cave first and come back to 1st in the last and went up. It was so pleasant though little chilled. Kids enjoyed the maximum. We had spent nearly two hours and left the place when other visitors started coming in. It was beyond our imagination, how much time and pain they might have taken to create these caves so beautifully. We reached the hotel by 8.30 and after breakfast we started again to Bhoothnath temple complex along with Uncle and aunt. As soon as we came on to main road, there was a police block and they informed us there is a bandh by labor unions. When we requested, they allowed us to go to Bhoothnath temple side. The way to the complex is too narrow and Archaeological Museum on the way after a narrow stone gate way. There is a parking lot at beginning of the complex (little far from main temple. Water level in the lake is less than half and it must be beautiful when water is touching the temple. Beyond the Bhoothnath temple also some sculptures and a small temple are available. after spending half an hour we returned to hotel to start back to Hyderabad. We reached back to the Hotel little after 10 AM and were ready before 11 duly packing our bags on roof carrier. We found the air pressure in the left rear Tyre is less and stopped at the main road for check up. after filling the air we asked the boy to checkup for any puncture by pouring water over the Tyre. For our Bad Luck or Good luck one puncture was detected in the Tyre. The puncture shop does not have a jack and he tried to pull out the nail which punctured the Tyre in position but not succeeded. Finally Tyre was taken out and the puncture attended. Finally we have lost one hour and we started again at 12 noon. As soon as we came for a turn on main market, police stopped again and said road is blocked ahead by agitators and we can not go. We told them we have to go to Hyderabad and asked is there any alternative. He asked us to go back towards our hotel and there is a bypass to join the main road. We switched on the Google maps after turning towards our Hotel, it was showing some 7.5 Kms for diversion and we went up there only to be fount it is a wrong route. Google was asking us to take U turn and proceed to same route. We asked some local on the road and they said there is no other road. we came back to Hotel again and took small by lane proceeded in the back roads for couple of Kms and entered again on to the main road from where the road is clear. Further we lost another 30 Minutes and finally exited Badami town by 12.45 PM. The road is again through pattadakal and Aihole (by pass) which is new and good. Road up to Lingusur which is about 120 Kms from Badami is also mostly good with few speed bumps. We reached Lingusur at about 3 PM and stopped for Lunch. Very close to the turning to Raichur we found a AC hotel with clean toilets and the food was good. We started from here at about 4.00 PM and our driving troubles started increasing as we progress. First up to Raichur By pass it was few bad patches and many speed bumps. From Raichur to Deosugur where we enter in to Telangana speed bumps. From Deosugur to Mahaboobnagar except 15 Kms before the MBNR, road widening work is in progress. Part of the road completed one side and none of the culverts were completed and multiple diversions and sudden end of good road had took the toll. We reached Mahaboobnagar at about 9 PM and stopped twice for coffee but could not get. Finally had a cup of coffee near Shadnagar and reached Home by 12 Midnight. I might have missed some details but will try to share if any one needs. Thank you for reading.

Day 5: Malda to Mirik Today it was event full. Instead of going to Siliguri we drove towards Mirik(less commercial). Roads are good through out the drive, Some sections are very narrow (village roads) We came across many tea estates enroute. We started gaining the altitude around 2PM. We reached Mirik by 4:30PM, Our stay is located 5 kilometers away from Mirik and it is very isolated. Roads are very narrow and dangerous, Hair pin curves are too narrow for Duster. Not a sedan/hatch back territory. Duster All terrain tyres came very handy. Slipping and sliding,(due to rain from past 4 days) We reached the mid way(2 kilometers) Many locals started discouraging us not take that route. In the mid away, it got difficult, With some patience and navigation, we finally reached the destination. Our expectations about the stay went down drastically looking at the road condition. Once reached the stay, We are blow away by the facilities and property view. Start time: 8 AM Reached: 6 PM Hotel : Royal Suite Rating: 5/5 Cost: 2500/- (Got an upgrade to 6k suite) Breakfast : Malda(3/5) Lunch : we skipped it Dinner : Royal Suite(5/5) Today it was eventful, We started to gain some altitude Beautiful tea estates enroute Inner roads through tea estates Our first road block due to slide. Now it is officially that we arrived Tucked-IN One of the best sunset ever Duster enjoying the view, All the struggle from the past four days is worth it? Thirty minutes that we spent at this sunset point, Will be remembered forever. Our accommodation is located 5 kilometers away from Mirik. Our host asked us, If we are driving a SUV? We said YES!, biggest mistake. And the next one hour drive is like switching between hell/heaven/earth Hair pin curves that can make your car tilt side ways, Slush, Some sections has zero traction, If we brake we will loose the traction. At one point we decided to turn back, We felt it is not worth the risk. Guess what? We couldn't find a place to take a U-turn. After one hour of constant spotting and corrections we made it to the destination. Looking at those roads, My expectation for the stay went from 100->0. Worst case scenario, we decided to sleep over in the car. Once we got down at the property. We were blown away by the facilities and the view. We stayed awake till 4AM in the morning with monk. Definitely best accommodation of the trip. Bedroom View Balcony Second room View from the hall Early morning rituals Kitchen

I came across a device called Amazon Eco Auto.source Features : Connects to Alexa using your phone, is ready in seconds, and plays through your car speakers. Includes Echo Auto Dash Mount. With eight microphones and far-field technology, Echo Auto can hear you over music, A/C, and road noise. Use your voice to play music, check the news, open the garage door, find the nearest gas station, and more. Play Audible books, stream podcasts, or listen to Amazon Music, Apple Music (coming soon), Spotify, Pandora, SiriusXM, or NPR. Make calls, set reminders, add items to your shopping and to-do lists, or manage your calendar. With over 50,000 skills and counting, Alexa is always getting smarter. Skills are like apps and let you do more with Alexa. Set location-based routines—automated actions Alexa can start when you leave the office or get home. Ask for directions and Alexa connects to supported apps like Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze on your phone. Simple setup details Specs It is an interesting device, You can register for early bird offer. I thought of installing my Eco Dot in the car, But after looking at this device, I will wait and decide. This is the best part, You can write your own skill set. This is very good opportunity for IT developers who love cars.

Excellent pictures Sir, Fantastic details. Gone thorough the full post. You covered all the temple/architectures related places around Hyderabad in a single shot. I think your next destination will be Yaganti.

Sorry for the late reply. We were on a meetup during the last weekend. It is good that you booked your accommodation on Monday. Usually it is overcrowded on Sunday and during loon weekends. You can go through this post. https://www.india-drive.com/index.php?/topic/478-hyderabad-to-suryalanka-beach-road-trip/ If you have time consider visiting Sea breeze resort (Chirala) Hamsaladeevi beach

If it's just one car that you guys are driving in, I don't think you would face any trouble from the locals over there, make sure you just don't get noticed while you drive down into the interiors until you reach the camping spot. We would love to have you join us for the drive in the coming future

@sagar Thank you for providing the details. I'd have loved to join you guys for Gandikota trip but, we (Baleno group) are planning a camping trip at Koilsagar lake on Jan 26th. Any inputs you want to give us? BTW, I'll make sure to join the India-Drive meet in future.

More details in this video. Added advantage for cars with only Aux support (no usb and bluetooth) A device from Google will be much more user friendly. I am using Eco dot, it is just average. No where close to Google.

Would love to be part of it. I will PM you the details. May be we can work on it together. You can find many car DIY guys installed Eco dot in their cars. It is fine, but may not be an ideal device.

I have registered for the device. I started working on the skills. EcoDot in car doesn't make sense. It may not handle the road noise etc. On other hand EcoAuto has 8 micro phones and it can handle noise very well. My car is almost 8 years old. I'm getting bored of it. Small devices like this make the car interesting again. EcoDot is not meant for car.

If you are planning with family, Chirala beach resort is only option! Regarding the route, you can go Via NAM expressway. Pictures from my recent visit.

If you are taking Vijayawada route, you can find LPG pumps at Vijayawada. If you are taking NAM expressway, chances of finding a LPG pump is tough.

Hi all, I am planning for a drive this weekend from Hyderabad to Chirala. Any idea about LPG pumps on the way. Thanks in advance. Ranjit

Via Nalgonda is better, I took the route while coming back from Amravati. Watch out of trucks especially after crossing Andhra Pradesh border.

There are two routes available. Nalgonda route is the best route to take, less traffic and peaceful to drive, new road NAM expressway made the drive, stress free. Last 100 kilometers is single road, road condition is average. NAM expressway Via Nalgonda Hyderabad -- Nalgonda -- Narasaraopet -- Chilakaluripeta -- Chirala Via Vijayawada Hyderabad -- Suryapet -- Vijayawada -- Chilakaluripeta -- Chirala
